
There are currently 14 active Middleton boys volleyball alumni playing at the college level during the 2025 season, which is a program high. They are represented across all levels of the college landscape (NCAA D1/D2, D3 and NAIA). This is a great reflection about the abundant talent within the MHS program and the dedication of those student-athletes.
The following content provides an overview of all alumni that have played volleyball at the next level (organized by MHS graduation year). The list should be complete through the last 20 years, however, if you know of any alumni that played in college (including junior college or club) that is not represented here, please let us know.
2024 Graduates

Ambrose Engling. Pin Hitter. D1 Princeton University (NJ). The 2023 State Player of the Year joined a competitive D1 team at Princeton that finished the 2025 season at 15-11. Ambrose appeared in 2 sets and accumulated 2 kills on 8 attempts.

Sam Jolin. Setter. D3 UW-Stevens Point (WI). Sam joins a 2nd year program at Stevens Point. The team finished a successful season at 19-8. Sam is one of the starting setters and led the team in assists with 519, was 2nd in aces with 20 and had 117 digs.

Erik Jones. Middle Blocker. D3 Illinois Institute of Technology (IL). Erik joins IIT which is part of the NACC conference. Erik has saw action in 28 sets and had 36 kills, a .253 hitting percentage, along with 7 blocks.

Siejohn Ouattara. Outside Hitter. NAIA Brescia University (KY). Brescia finished at 10-13 in 2025. Siejohn played in 13 matches and 23 sets and had 28 kills and a .157 hitting percentage.
Dominic Rees. Opposite Hitter. NAIA Siena Heights (MI). Dominic’s team finished at 12-13. Dom played in all 25 matches and had 118 kills (3rd on the team), along with 38 aces (2nd on the team) and 30 blocks.

Brody Stuttgen. Setter. D1 New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJ). Brody joins a competitive NJIT team and redshirted his freshman year.

Hudson Sweitzer. Middle Blocker. D3 Carthage (WI). Hudson joined perennial D3 powerhouse Carthage. The Firebirds won the CCIW regular season and conference tournament, finishing with a 23-4 record, after winning in the first round of the NCAA tournament vs Aurora. Hudson made an immediate impact in his first season appearing in all but one set. He generated 109 kills (5th on the team), hitting .314, along with 6 aces and 80 blocks (1st on the team). His blocks per set was 3rd best in the conference.

2023 Graduates

Kaden Fosdick. Opposite Hitter. D1 Purdue Fort Wayne (IN). Purdue Fort Wayne finished at 11-15 losing in the first round of the MIVA conference tournament. Played Middle Blocker most of his freshman year and moved to Opposite Hitter in 2025. He played regularly and appeared in 75 of their 97 sets. He had 94 kills (5th on the team) with 19 blocks and 16 aces (4th on the team). During 2024 he played in 46 sets and tallied 44 kills (hitting .375) with 28 blocks.

Ben Heise. Opposite Hitter. D3 Carthage (WI). Ben continued his strong play during his Sophomore season helping lead the Firebirds to the second round of the D3 NCAA tournament. He finished with 260 kills (2nd on the team and 4th in the conference), hitting .369 (7th in the conference), along with 47 blocks (3rd on the team). Ben was awarded first team all CCIW conference, all Region and was a second-team All-American. In 2024, he received second-team all-conference honors in the CCIW, finishing 2nd on the team with 197 kills, while hitting .305 with 62 blocks.

Alex Heuer. Libero/DS/Setter. NAIA Cumberland University (TN). Alex started at setter for Cumberland in his first year and pivoted to DS/Libero for this Sophomore season in 2025. The team finished at 19-12 after losing in the conference tournament semi-final. He played in all 31 matches and had a team leading 325 digs (2.85 per set). In 2024 he dished out 762 assists (7.54/set), along with 28 service aces, 141 digs and 21 blocks. His assists per set was 3rd in the Mid-South Conference. He was voted second-team all conference for his efforts.
2022 Graduates

Cole Sweitzer. Outside Hitter. D2 Lewis University (IL). Cole plays for a strong Lewis program that finished with a 22-9 record in 2025, losing in the MIVA conference semi-finals to Loyola. The redshirt Sophomore saw a big leap forward in playing time and impact in 2025. He played in 51 sets and had 40 kills, hitting .224 along with 9 aces and 28 digs. Cole redshirted his freshman year. In 2024 he played in 3 sets and tallied 3 kills, 4 aces, 1 dig and 1 block.

Haven Wankerl. Middle Blocker. D1 Purdue Fort Wayne (IN) and NAIA D’Youville (NY). Haven transferred to D1 Purdue Fort Wayne from D’Youville in 2025, where he joined fellow alumni Kaden Fosdick. He finished the 2025 season with 19 set appearances, tallying 20 kills, hitting .275 with 16 blocks. At D’Youville, he had 149 kills his freshmen season (2023), hitting .335, along with 53 blocks. In this sophomore season, he had 139 kills (3rd on the team), hitting .317. Also tallied 69 blocks (1st on the team) and 17 aces (2nd on the team).
2021 Graduates

Ruben Emmerich. Opposite Hitter. D3 Carthage (WI) and D2 Queens University of Charlotte (NC). Ruben transferred to Carthage in 2025. At Carthage he joined fellow alumni Hudson Sweitzer and Ben Heise. He finished with 85 set appearances, generating 57 kills (6th on the team), hitting .342, along with 19 blocks and 11 aces. At Queens, he played in 16 sets in 2022 with 6 starts, tallying 19 kills and 7 aces. Did not play in 2023. In 2024 played in 28 sets generating 54 kills, 15 blocks and 6 aces. Had a career high 9 kills vs Purdue Fort Wayne on 2/10/24.

Nick Stott. Setter. UW-Madison Club. Played one year of club volleyball in 2021-2022. Nick is now one of the JV boys volleyball coaches at Middleton high school.
2020 Graduates

Scott Buros. Outside Hitter. NAIA Mount Mercy (IA). Started play in the 2021 season. Tallied 409 kills through his first 3 seasons, averaging nearly 2.0 kills/set. Hit .271 his junior year. Finished 2024 with 46 kills (hitting .265), 30 digs and 10 aces.

Parker Van Buren. Opposite Hitter. D1 Loyola University Chicago (IL).
Parker finished his stellar college career with the D1 Loyola Ramblers as a four time All-American and two time First-Team All-American. The Ramblers completed a successful 2025 season with a 25-4 record, MIVA conference tournament title and NCAA tournament appearance (where they lost in 4 sets to Pepperdine). He finished the 2025 season with 435 kills (1st on the team), hitting .403, along with 47 aces (1st on the team), 148 digs (3rd on the team) and 59 blocks. He ranked 4th in the NCAA in points per set at 5.25, 2nd in kills per set at 4.42, 9th in hitting percentage and 9th in aces per set. His hitting percentage was first in the nation among attackers with at least 500 attack attempts. He was the unanimous choice for the MIVA conference player of the year.
In addition to his college play, he’s played for the U.S. Men’s Volleyball national team at the Pan American games in the summers of 2022 and 2023. He was a member of the 2023 U.S. Men’s Collegiate National Team that practices with the Men’s National Team.

Sam Dettman. Middle Hitter. UW-Madison (D1) Club. 4-year starting middle from the 2019-2020 through the 2022-2023 seasons. Sam was a key player on the Wisconsin Men’s team that won the NCVF D1 National Championship in April, 2023. Was also a multi-year practice player for the University of Wisconsin women’s team.

Owen Engling. Middle Hitter. USC Club Team (CA). No information.

Dylan Griffith. Libero. D3 Edgewood College (WI) and Concordia University Wisconsin (WI)
4-year starting Libero. Played for Concordia-Wisconsin his freshman year (2020) and The Edgewood Eagles from 2021 to 2023. 3 time all-NACC conference recognition. Finished in top 3 in the conference in digs/set all 4 seasons and top 15 nationally for 3 of them. Edgewood team MVP and Captain all 3 seasons. Concordia Wisconsin and Edgewood leader in career digs/set and passer rating. Finished career 3rd in NACC Conference history in career digs and 5th in digs/set. Dylan is the varsity head coach for the Middleton high school boys volleyball program and is an Assistant Coach for the Edgewood Men’s Volleyball team.

Eagan Peters-Michaud. Outside Hitter. Junior College – San Diego Miramar College (CA). Eagan played in the 2020 and 2022 seasons in a highly competitive junior college program in California. Had 43 kills in 11 matches, hitting .171. Also tallied 16 aces and 36 digs. Eagan is the Varsity Assistant Coach for the Edgewood high school boys volleyball program.
2018 Graduates

Andrew LePage. Setter. NAIA Viterbo University (WI). 4-year starting setter from 2019 through 2022. All-time assist leader for Viterbo (located in La Crosse) with 2,650 and holds the single record with 811 in 2020. 2nd team all-CCAC in his senior year. Among top assist leaders in his conference multiple years.

Jacob Nonn. Outside Hitter. NAIA Viterbo University (WI). 5 year starter for Viterbo from 2019 through 2022. Led team in kills 4 of his 5 seasons. First-team all-CCAC in 2022 and second-team in 2023. In 2023 was 2nd in conference in kills and 4th for kills/set. Holds Viterbo’s lifetime kills record with 956 and is 5th in career digs and blocks.

Thomas Robson. Libero. NAIA Viterbo University (WI) and D2 Quincy University (IL). Played for Quincy (2019) and Viterbo (2020-2021). At Viterbo, joined his high school teammates Andrew LePage and Jacob Nonn. 2-time CCAC co-libero of the year at Viterbo, and 2-time Second-team all-CCAC conference player. Top 10 in the NAIA for digs/set in 2020 and 2021. After graduation, Thomas coached women’s volleyball at his alma mater Viterbo and is now the Technical Coordinator for the Omaha Supernovas, a women’s professional team in the newly formed Pro Volleyball Federation.
2017 Graduates

Ben Miller. Opposite Hitter. D3 Lakeland University (WI) and D3 Edgewood College (WI). 5 year player. With Lakeland (2018-2021) and Edgewood (2022). Tallied 196 kills at Lakeland with a high of 127 in 2020, along with 318 digs and 30 aces. In lone season with Edgewood (2022), produced 122 kills (3rd on team), along with 110 digs (2nd on team) and 15 aces (2nd on team). Tied for 5th all-time in NACC conference matches played.

Cole Spitler. Outside Hitter. NAIA Mount Mercy (IA) and UW-Madison Club. Played one year for Mount Mercy (2018) and recorded 134 kills, hitting .216, along with 34 total blocks. Played on the UW-Madison club team after.
2016 Graduates

Jordan Futch. Middle Hitter. Santa Barbara Community College (CA). Played single year in 2017. Hit .325 with 89 kills and led team in blocks. Was 12th in the conference in blocks.

Kevin McMahon. Outside Hitter. UW-Madison (D1) Club. Multiple year player for the UW-Madison D1 club team from the 2016-2017 through the 2019-2020 seasons. Was also a practice player for the Wisconsin women’s volleyball team.

Blake Sprecher. Middle Hitter. D2 Quincy University (IL). The big 6’8″ middle was a 4-year player from the 2017 through 2020 seasons. Primary starter in 2018 and 2019. Tallied 320 kills and hit .235. Also totaled 222 total blocks and 27 aces.
2015 Graduates

James Caldwell. Outside Hitter. Iowa State (D1) Club Team. Had a very strong club career. Honorable Mention all tournament team at the 2017 NCVF Collegiate Club Volleyball Championships

Caleb Zimmick. Middle Hitter. D1 Harvard (MA). Highly accomplished college career. Played from 2012 through the 2015 season. 2-time AVCA All-American Honorable Mention. 2-time EIVA all-conference team. Third on Harvard’s all-time hitting percentage list (hitting .394), 2nd in all-time blocks and 9th in total kills. Joined his high school teammate Michael Owen at Harvard. Caleb’s younger brother Connor was an excellent player as well (2nd Team All-State at Middleton) and is now the Associate Head Coach for the Appalachian State women’s team.
2010 Graduates

Michael Owen. Middle Hitter/Outside Hitter/Setter. D1 Harvard (MA). Played from the 2011 through 2014 seasons and notched 195 kills, 141 blocks and 164 digs. Moved to setter his senior year and was credited with 146 assists. Is 7th in school history with 131 block assists and is 10th in total blocks at 141. Michael is an assistant coach for the University of Illinois Chicago women’s volleyball team.

- 1996 graduate Ryan Thies had an accomplished club career at UW-Milwaukee. He is now the women’s head volleyball coach at Marquette University.
